2009 is almost at an end its been a very productive iv spent a lot of time surveying the North Channel for wrecks and now have over 25 logged into my plotter most hold lots of fish and most have never been fished before all within an hours steaming time.
2010 will be the year i will reap the rewards of my effort's cant wait.
As I am chartering full time i now run a policy that i must have a deposit with a booking.
NO DEPOSIT NO BOOKING.
That should take care of the time wasters.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to one and all.

November
There,s good news and there,s bad news. The good news is that as from the 5th of December we are back full time chartering.Full details are now on the main website along with a printable booking form.
Bad news November saw the worst weather since 1914.Diva spent the whole of November tied to her moorings and its driving me mad.
More good news . At last the weather forecast for the next few days is good,so fish beware I'm in attack mode.

October
For October the weather has been very good getting afloat most days. The Mackerel are thinning out and Cod to 5lb are showing on rough ground best bait is Lugworm.
Large shoals of very small Whiting are showing in Loch Ryan.
Deep water wrecks are producing good Pollock and Spur Dogs just off the wreck on baited feathers.

September
At last some good weather ,We spent two days at Lendalfoot looking for Tope it turned out to be a complete waist of time, not even a sniff of a Tope.Iv come to the conclusion that the best place for Tope is Loch Ryan.
Mark fishing has been very good with most days catching over 12 species, best results on Lug and Ragworm .We had some nice Wrasse to about 4lb on float fished Ragworm at the Oust Rocks good fun on light tackle.
Wreck fishing has been good as well .we have been able to fish the deep water wrecks with good results plenty of good Pollock on shads also Spur Dogs on baited feather.

August
What can we say about August it was pants wet and windy followed by more wind and ran.I think we put to sea about twice.
Iv started fishing the deeper wrecks that's over 75 meters and have changed my mind about using braided line mono just has to much stretch at that depth and is not very nice to fish with.
At the moment my weapon of choice is a Daiwa Kenzaki 30/50 boat rod with a Daiwa slosh 40 reel loaded with 60lb Power Pro braid with 15 metres of 40lb Stren fluorocarbon leader. Its a good bit of kit and works very well.

New online tackle shop
Our new online tackle shop was launched this week www.sea-fishing-tackle.net
Its run by anglers for anglers. It will be well worth keeping an eye on it.Once we start getting a bit of traffic on the site,we will be able to do some super deals and offers.
We found a new wreck this week just west of the Genoch Rocks it only stands about two meters, and is covered with fish mostly good Pollack,Coalfish and Haddock. My mackerel feathers worked the best.

Braid or Mono
I used to think that braid was the best thing since sliced bread.
But we have lost a lot of big fish this year with braid the problem been its very susceptible to abrasion.
As most of my fishing is wrecking braid is weakened just by touching the wreck then when it comes to playing a big fish it will let you down every time.
Tope fishing is the same if you have a big tope going mad under the boat and the braid touches the side its good bye fish. In fact it was good bye to six last week.
So its off with the braid and back to the mono for me.
Diva is back to full speed she cruises at 20 knots and max is about 25/30 knots depending on payload and tide.

June 19th
Sea angling in south west scotland has come alive with an abundance of bait fish Herring Mackerel and sandeels.
Coal Fish are still plentiful on the inshore wrecks with catches over 100 fish been made all fish about the 2-3 lb mark with shallow water all fish can be returned alive.
Good size Bull Huss have started to show with five double figured fish from a mark off Corsewall Point and two from a mark in Lochryan.
Diva is a bit under the weather at the moment with a loss of about 15 knots off her top speed . But with a good bottom cleaning and a coat of Blakes Glide Speed should do the trick.

Good Weather
June 3rd
At last some good weather and a vast improvment in fishing, if you like catching Coal Fish, that is. They seem to be everywere. Good fun on a light spinning rod. Mackerel are a bit hit or miss at the moment.
On Sunday the 31st the weather was perfect, the sea was like a mill pond, so we set off to fish the wrecks around the Ailsa Craig.
The first wreck we tried was the "Margareta" and then the "Duke Of Edinburgh" and the "Austria" but all we got was sun burnt. We tried two more wrecks east of the Ailsa Craig but the story was the same.
By this time we had used about £50 of diesel with just a sun burnt head to show for it. Not being the type of person that gives in we will try one more - knowing in the back of my mind that we're not going home untill weve caught some fish.
We arrived on the wreck at about 6pm. The first drop down set the pattern each of us - a full house six at a time. Good Pollack and Coal Fish came first then Haddock, Cod, Whiting, Pouting, Gurnard, Mackerel and I had a Dab. The bigger fish fell to a SWB Tackle Hokeye.
Then at about 8.30pm, just if someone had thrown a switch, it stopped so we set off back to Stranraer reflecting on what a fantastic two and a half hours of fishing.
