I'm well pleased with Divas new engine she goes like a dream.
For the anoraks
The engine is a 4.2 L Cummins MerCruiser 230 hp on a Bravo 2 leg and a 183/4 x17 prop.
At 3000 rpm shes doing 15 knts and at 4000 rpm about 24 knts.
This is the best bit overall fuel comsumption is about 2 gallons an hour.

THE CURSE OF MACDONALD POWER
Yep yet again the engine in Diva failed this time the crankshaft pulley was turning on the crankshaft.
Infact the bolt holding the pully had been striped.
Thats four times in four years that the engine has let me down thanks to Macdonald Power.
The good news is that Macdonld power have gone under GOOD !!!!!!!!!
Infact it gets even beter ! Cummins are no longer agents for MerCruiser.
EP BARRUS are now MerCruiser agents two emails to them and it was yes you can have a new engine.
I had to now get Diva transsported to Queens Ferry so that Ferry Marine could do the work.
I was hoping I could have the boat back within a week ,but no it took them six weeks .
It must be a thing with marine engineers they just have to piss people off.
But it looks like they have done a good job.
I hope I can now put all that behind me now and get on with fishing.

WHAT NO FISH
There hasn't been much to blog about .
The winter was warm, wet and windy, this keep ed the water temperature up thus preventing the winter fish to arrive .
Now that's the weather is better and we can get afloat the fishing has not been so good.
The winter fish never arrived and the summer fish are not here yet.
But in saying that mackerel and large shoals of sand eels are in Loch Ryan.
I feel that good times are not that far away.

Maybe afloat on Saturday ?
I was looking at Divas log the last time we went afloat was the 7Th of November last year.
I have never known a winter to be so windy. But we may get a trip this Saturday,Lets hope so.
I'm looking forward to this year its going to be an exciting time now that Diva is OK.
I'm going to concentrate more on soft plastics mostly Mojos and Red Giles for Pollock.Cod and Bass. Then not forgetting Tope, Conger,Spur Dogs and Porbeagle.
I now have a calendar on my Charter Rates page it will make it so much easier for individuals to see the availability when looking for a trip.
